The purpose of this eLearning course is to teach you strategies to help you support your mental health. After this course, you will better understand some factors that contribute to your mental wellness and overall well-being. Further, you will have some new tools to support your mood.
The reality is that most people have experienced mental or emotional health problems or will at some point in their lives. Although mental health struggles are common, we are not as familiar with how to deal with them compared to physical health issues. This course was designed to provide you with some knowledge and strategies to care for your mental health. There are steps you can take on your own to improve your situation; however, seeking help with a mental health professional is recommended.
Indeed, your mental health affects your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Additionally, it impacts your ability to cope, interact with others, and bounce back from difficult hardships.
Good mental health doesn’t always mean the absence of mental illness. It’s your ability to remain resilient, confident, and calm despite negative thoughts or difficult events. Further, good mental health doesn’t necessarily mean that you’re happy most of the time. It’s more about your perspective, emotional regulation, and reaction to things that are out of your control.
We’ve also included information about mental health from a chronic pain lens. Living with chronic pain is a challenging experience that often exists alongside mental health difficulties.
People with chronic pain often experience mental health outcomes, like depression and anxiety. Further, conditions like anxiety and depression can worsen chronic pain due to avoidance cycles.
Understanding how chronic pain and mental health are related for you can be essential to managing both.
